OTHER OPTIONS

Other Options – Cutters, Destackers and Unitizers, Oh my!

To help you get even more out of your Double-Press machine, we’ve developed three optional add-ons:  Cutters, Destackers and Unitizers.

Our Cutters are designed to give our 3-Tie machines the flexibility to process 3’ x 4’ and 4’ x 4’ big bales. A Cutter and a 3-Tie Press are the least expensive initial investment you can make to be able to process 3’ x 4’ bales down to a 3-Tie size double-compress bale.

Standard Big Bale Cutter

Our Standard Big Bale Cutter accepts 3' x 4' bales with lengths up to 98”. The bales are cut into halves or quarters and fed to one of our presses or it can coordinate with presses from other manufacturers. When configured with our 3-Tie Press, the bales are cut into quarters prior to being fed to the press. The result is a standard, compressed 3-tie bale.

High Volume Big Bale Cutter

For customers with higher volume requirements, we offer a different Cutter design that utilizes a big bale feeder, automatic twine remover, and other components that permit increased throughput with no reduction in reliability.

Destackers

Our group of destackers can process a large stack of interlocking hay bales and load them onto a conveyor for easy movement to the press.

3-Tie Destacker

Our 3-Tie Destacker comes fully automated and integrated with our 3-Tie Press. It handles enough hay to keep the press fully loaded.

How it works

After a block stack of fifty-six 3-tie bales are set onto the Destacker, the entire stack is moved onto an elevator, allowing another stack to be placed on the Destacker. The stack of bales on the elevator is pulled off and moved to the slide where they get aligned with the conveyor and continue on to the press. The elevator continues to index up after each row until the entire stack is completed. Then it is lowered back to ground level and the next stack is pulled onto the elevator.

3x4 and 4x4 Destacker

For larger-size bales, our 3x4 and 4x4 Destackers are up to the challenge. With fully automated technology and manual control, they keep the press fully loaded with hay.

How it works

A load of six 3’ x 4’ or 4’ x 4’ bales are placed onto the feed table. The first row of bales is moved into a clamp that grabs the top two bales and lifts them up. Then the bottom bale is pushed out from under the top two bales onto a conveyor. The clamp lowers the two bales back to the table, releases the bales and moves up to lift the top bale. The bottom bale is then pushed out from under it onto the conveyor. The top bale is then lowered to the table, the clamp releases the bale, and it is pushed onto the conveyor. The second row is pushed into the clamp and the process repeats.

Unitizer

A double-compressed bale is push down into a holding box. Another double compressed bale is pushed into the holding box on top of the previous bale. The holding box is moved to the side one bale width and a third bale is pushed in. After a fourth bale is pushed in on top of the third bale, the row of four double-compressed bales is pushed further into the box from the side. Four more bales are pushed down into the box and then the row of four is pushed from the side to fully load the holding box. A sleeve is placed around the outside of the entire box. The next row of four bales will push the eight bales out of the box and into the sleeve. The large sleeved bale can then be loaded into the shipping container flat or on-edge.

Precision Block Former/Automatic Stretch Wrap System (AWS)

Double-Press has created a fully automated and highly flexible system that stacks compressed bales and squares them in precise blocks before delivering them to the wrap station. Once the stretch wrap (or plastic wrap) has been applied, the AWS stacks the blocks two-high in a staging area ready to be loaded into a container.

The AWS eliminates the man-hours involved in retrieving and forming blocks, delivering them to the stretch wrapper, and stacking them for loading. The only time an operator needs to step down from his forklift is to replace a full roll of stretch-wrap. If desired, the stretch-wrapping station may be bypassed, and the strapped blocks stacked in the staging area.
